Removing the swing arm

Post by Mepstein »

I need to remove the swing arm so I can have the frame painted. Are there any tricks to removing the hardware on the drive side? It's a '73 sport. Thanks, Mark

Not really, as long as you remember the spindle is threaded into the frame, so needs to be unscrewed from it after the two lock nuts at either end are removed. You'd be surprised how many people have tried to hammer them out! (No, not me. Honest)

There might - or might not - be shims/spacers/washers between the outside flat frame sections and the outside ends of the swing arm; if they are there you might want to note their presence for reassembly.
