Hi Folks,
Just had the first proper ride this evening on my recently acquired K2. It's an import, 28,000 km and it seems original and unmolested. Few issues with the idiot lights, otherwise it seems to go very well apart from when the throttle is just gently opened from tickover when it tends to die. I'm not familiar with Dell Orto's so I will have to work out how to adjust it without spoiling it elsewhere.
Really enjoyed a couple of Morini 500's way back in the 1980's and thought it good idea to try another one before either prices went too high or I got too old. Had some great trips in Uk and Europe, good times but I imagine everything will be a bit more local this time.
Back again on Morini's
Re: Back again on Morini's
Hi there,
Interesting to see your post as I've just started down the K2 route. I am new to Morinis though. Your bike is the same colour scheme as mine, though it's quite a bit different, especially the front fairing:

As for your problem, I should think balancing and adjusting the carburetters will eliminate this minor issue - just about the only problem I haven't got with mine! If not, you may have to strip and thoroughly clean the carburetters, ideally in an ultrasonic cleaner as you may have a blockage in the pilot circuit of one or both carbs. If you are more familiar with Amal or Mikuni carbs, remember that on the Dellortos the mixture screw controls the petrol, not the air. So unscrewing makes it richer, not leaner - I learned that about a fortnight ago!
Good luck with it!
Joe.
