hello all, cant take the riding position anymore worse on a long run the years are catching up, has anyone tried to drill a sport yoke to take a handle bar clamp to make it , strada spec, have fitted high raise clip ons but still not happy with set up, its later type sport with the clock console , or has anyone got a later type strada top yoke for sale, its stopping me using the bike which is annoying I haven't got rearsets fitted either , any thoughts on this one . thanks muller.

You might find that fitting rearsets makes the clip-ons more comfortable.

The standard Sport 'doubled-over' riding position is appalling and rearsets will not only let you take more weight on your feet but will also reduce the strain on your back, shoulders and neck.

I agree. I had high-rise clip-ons on my Strada with standard footpegs and a Sport seat on it, and I developed sciatica after some long runs! It's now in standard Strada spec and it's much more comfortable. However, as Martin G says, my Sport with clip-ons and rear-sets is more comfortable for me (with a dodgy back) on long runs than the 'touring' Strada.

Installing rearsets permits me to ride my 350 Sport for two or three times longer than before and still finish with less back or neck pain. Allowing the legs to take up more of the weight makes a tremendous difference. Installing a Strada top clamp and handlebars will not change the unfortunate position of the pegs and levers, so while you might gain a bit of relief from stretching over to the clip-ons, your legs will still be too far forward.

I'm not in the first flush of youth, yet last summer I did 2x 500 mile+ non stop (apart from fuel) days on my Sport with clip ons and rearsets.
So that makes me a +4 in the rearsets are the way to go vote.

so it looks like rear sets are the way to go , still not convinced about the clip ons and maybe go with the strada yoke if I can , in my teenage years it wouldn't be an issue the more café racer the better , just cant hack it nowadays will try the rear sets idea it must be an improvement on a bike designed for a lithe Italian boy, and not a pie eating beer swigger like myself ! thanks for the replys . muller.

My 77 Sport came with factory rearsets. No where near as far back as Tarozzi or other aftermarket setups and still not comfortable with clip-ons, but quite good when paired with a Strada top yoke and bars. The toe of the gearchange ends up just a little in front of the gearchange shaft as I recall, rather than about 4 inches in front.

I eventually sold my setup to NLM, who recommend them for the job.

There are clip ons and clip ons, some push the bars forward of the fork centre line, and it was the resulting stretched out position that I found uncomfortable even with rear sets, I have the opposite body type to the regular Italian, I have a shortish body and long legs. I improved things a great deal with Tommaselli adjustable bars which although not cheap, (shop around, they vary a lot) give a tremendous range of adjustment.

@ mad muller: do you still want me to look for the strada yokes?

Hi all, does anyone have some of the 'standard rear-sets' used on the 77 sport onwards?
I feel my standard 75 Strda has the foot-rests too far forward. And just to think in 1977 is was quite happy with my 76 sport set up!!

thanks for the feedback, very interesting comments thought it was just me having all the discomfort. hendre , if you find a strada top yoke p.m me , its the later sport with the clocks in dashboard console a real nuisance of a thing when it comes to swapping bars cables etc , thanks muller.
