I am looking for the owner of UJT 583S as I was the first owner and still have the owners manual and bill of sale.
If you know of the bikes whereabouts please let me know.

Silly question possibly but...Have you tried the Dvla website? At least you can check that she is still registered alive etc...and not been turned into coke cans or saucepans.

DVLA can`t find her so I can only assume that the worst has happened.

A capacity of 366cc would result from a rebore to 64mm. It's what you get when fitting the NLM '375' pistons. It's fairly unusual for someone to inform the DVLA of such a change and for the DVLA to have actually recorded it properly!

The horsepower rating varies with the rating system, as much as 42hp SAE (US - Society of Automotive Engineers). It also varies according to market and legal requirements and where it's measured (crankshaft, gearbox sprocket, or rear wheel).

I believe that Germany requires that something 80% of engines coming off the production line must produce at least the quoted power. The Triumph Dolomite Sprint was originally called the Dolomite 135 after it's claimed hp rating, but couldn't in fact be rated at more than 120hp for Germany and so was re-named.

Germany also has a tax class, or license class at 27hp, so claiming a lower figure actually makes sense.

Thanks for that.
I do not understand why my search of the DVLA gave no results.
I will hold on to the paperwork in case the owner gets in touch.

You got the make wrong.

Your entry of the manufacturer has to match the database, so it could be;

MORINI
MOTO MORINI
MOTOMORINI
MARINI
MOTO MARINI
MOTOMARINI

Or some other random variation.

You know all those stories you get by lazy journalists along the lines of "There's only one Austin Allegro Vanden Plas left in the UK"?

That's because there's only one with that exact description.
