Fuse upgrade

Post by NJB3051 »

Hello everyone - I am new to this group and I'm looking for information on upgrading the fuses on my 1976 3 1/2. I did a quick search using "fuse upgrade", "fuse box", but did not see anything. I would keep the originals, but I just want a more reliable fuse system than the original. Thanks, and glad to join the group.

Nice! Tony K of the Dutch club has something nice fitted to his resto here, http://www.motomoriniclub.nl/project.html but more than that I do not know.

What part of the world are you in?

Lovely bike you have there. I take it you are new to the world of Morinis ? The reason I think that there are no posts on fuse upgrades is because the original system works very well. I have never had a fuse blow in four and a half years . I am sure you could upgrade to a more modern blade type fuse if you were savvy with electrics. Where are you? It doesnt look like Britain :D

Hello, and thanks for the comments. Sorry about my late reply. I'm only answering now b/c apparently I do not have the system set up correctly to inform me when someone posts a reply to my post. Yes, this is my first Morini, and I'm learning as I go along. I'll clean up the current fuse holder, get new fuses and give it a go. I'm facing another issue now, however, and that it sourcing parts. I need intake manifolds and maybe some other bits and pieces. I am located in the US in the state of Pennsylvania. I'm also trying to locate a parts manual or microfiche. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Thanks! Nick.

There is another forum with many US members that may be able to help you, try http://micapeak.com/mailman/listinfo/moto-morini.

Hi Nick,

I too am in the US, western Maryland, near Antietam Battlefield. If you're on Facebook, you might consider joining the Morini page there. They have a File area and in it is a 3 1/2 parts book: https://www.facebook.com/groups/motomor ... 542953510/

I've tried (unsuccessfully) to buy parts from Herdan Corp. in Port Clinton, PA (the original importer) - can't even get them to answer the phone or return my calls. :( Best bet is to email Stuart @ North Leicester Motorcycles with a list of needs. He's very prompt in responding and I've found NLM's prices to be reasonable. http://www.northleicestermotorcycles.co ... ct_us.html

Feel free to contact me at the shop if I can help.

I prefer new electronics on old bikes as well regardless of how well they worked back in the day. When I put mine together I am going to make a completely new wiring harness from scratch. Just to rule out any possible issues since I intend on riding it often. I'm in Indianapolis and I have a few sources for parts if someone is in need of something. Let me know.
