valve collet

I'm stripping the heads on the motor (from an Excalibur) I'm working on.
In the past I've just compressed the springs with a compressor and the collets pop out.
On these the they don't seem to budge.
Any thoughts?

Most likely just stuck with varnish from "cooked oil" due to the cylinder head temps....
A small screwdriver wedged between them with a light tap on the screwdriver should free them...
Best of luck with them,

Valve collets often 'wedge'. With a support under the valve head, place a bit of tube over the spring retainer and give it a smart tap with a hammer. With a bit of rag in the tube and a bold enough hammer blow, you can completely remove the collets and retainer this way.
