New obsession
Hi I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself I'm writing this in my garage surrounded by moto morini's that don't work but I'm slowly sorting that out there's a 1983 500 sie v originally imported from the states which hasn't run for at least 5 years a 70's strada 350 that's missing a lot of stuff and what started it all off a 1976 3 1/2 sport I've reconditioned the engine painted the frame still a long way to go but I must say that I'm enjoying the proses . A few years ago I didn't know moto morini even existed and now they've become a bit of an obsession . The only one I've ever ridden was the modern 9 1/2 witch is a very interesting bike lots of torque and hooks into corners well .since I stared fixing up the sport I've got a lot of useful info from this forum so I thought I'd better join up at last .
Re: New obsession
Hi Pissedandbroke welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've got the Morini bug and once you've got it you can't get rid of it! Believe me. I first bought a Morini Strada 3 1/2 T reg (1979) in 1983. I had it for about 5 years then reluctantly sold it to my brother. He had it for about 10 years then it was sold to a mutual friend. She had it for 12 years and then offered it back to me. Of course I had to have it, 27 years later!
It was in a bit of a state and has undergone an extensive restoration and is now (2014) just back on the road with an MOT and in 'shakedown' mode to iron out the niggles. In its past it has been to France at least three times and fully loaded touring to southern Spain twice - and it's only a 350! This is what happens when you get the Morini bug! They are absolutely charming machines. Of course they have their quirks and can easily slim your wallet. But if you've got the bug it's a life long affliction with no cure!

Hi Pissed (if I may use your first name) and welcome along!
How on earth did you get so surrounded by so many Morinis so quickly? Did you just wake up in there one day in the state of your forum name?
Sounds like a story to me.
Cheers,
Dom

Re: New obsession
Hi dady dom
I was looking for a sport for quite a while one came up in melbourn in the end .when I got I it home I found a few things were missing .My excuse is I had a 1000km drive before I viewed it and a lot of it was in boxes .the bloke I bought it from was descent enough so I gave him a call and asked if he'd found any more parts lying around . About three weeks later he got in touch and told me he had indeed found the missing parts and another bike there was only one thing to do .
Not mutch of a story but that's what happend

Well I can certainly identify with the journey part - I'm in NZ and keep tabs on Morini action up all over the country. I and many others probably would have done the same as you! Quite a few Morinis in Aussie so stick around and the owners will pop their heads up sooner or later. Maybe even some parts.
