Petrol Tanks - interchangeable?

Hi all.
Can anyone confirm if a 500 tank is the same as a 350K tank please (paintwork aside of course).
In other words, will it fit straight on to a 350K, same forward and rear mountings etc?

Thanks.

That is to say, a 350K1, not K2.

a friend has a 500 and K1, I've asked him to have a look and measure

a (very early) 500 tank is about 2 cm longer and has a hook for rear mounting. it also has 2 holes for the anti vibration rubbers on the back

the 350K1 has a mounting hole where the tank mounts directly on the frame (with the vibration rubber in between)

also the front rubber mounting points are different, in a 500 they are more to the front. (front tank to rear mounting point 4.5 cm for the 500, 6 cm for the 350K1). For the 350K1 the mounting points are also about 1 cm lower compared to the bottom of the tank.

My friend tried to fit the 500 tank on the 350K1 without success as the tunnel of the 500 is more narrow in places and it gets stuck on the 350K1 air filter. The other way around same problem... air filters must also be positioned differently.

So are they interchangeable: I suppose not... unless you put a lot of effort in changing the mounting points and moving the air filter

could be that later 500 tanks have more similarity but I have no example of such a tank lying around

Hi Hendre.
Thanks a lot for the detailed information, that,s all I need to know.
I had a chance of a cheap 500 tank to replace my rusty K1 tank but I see now that it will be better to find a 350 tank.
Thanks for your help.
Mark.

I'd like to see the other end of the K tank ,where it mounts to the frame-what kind of rubber bush arrangement should be in there? i have never seen another to know.
