Anyone out there recognise BKP 489T?

Post by George 350 »

Hi All,

Went and picked up an ebay'd Strada last night that I am/was hoping to use as a source of spares.
Having got it, I find from the chassis number (A/3 13350), it is only 26 bikes newer than my '78 Sport! (A/3 13324)
The bike is complete with the exception of the chainguard, and is a bit on the tatty side. Am not sure yet on whether to break or restore it – Heart says restore so that I can have a matching pair from the same period, especially as the numbers are so close, while brain says "stick to your original reason for buying it – a low mileage engine."

Anyone on here have any information or history on BKP 489T?

Regards,
George

Cannot help with the info but it seems a shame to break a relatively rare bike to me. Of course if there any bits going........

I bunged a couple of bids in on that, but it got out of my reach very quickly...

I only really wanted the forks anyway, well, just the fork tubes and springs, actually, so If you do decide to break it, let me know....

have engine spares or cash i can swap for 'em if anyone else has gottem, btw...

For stanchions, consider buying new from Disco Volante in Wales. I can get re-chroming and grinding done for about £100, whilst the new stanchions are about £70 each.

I'd also buy springs new as most will have sagged over the years.
