I am toying with the idea of fitting 500 heads to my 350 (well actually it will be 375 in a few days when i get the barrels etc back from the engineers) but i am i'm right in thinking that the exhaust flanges are different on the 350s and 500s. Is that right? If so is there a simple solution for fitting the 350 downpipes onto 500 heads?

oh by the way, what is the solution exactly?

flanges are identical, pipes are thicker after about 2 inches and inside diameter for the nuts is larger... that's it.

The heads won't fit though. The intake valve is too close to the barrel wall
iirc. Was told by Stuart at NLM. I've never tried.

They definitely will fit on a 400 bore. Havnen't checked the 375. Bengy used to put them on stock 350 bores and relieve the cylinder wall at the top.

Custom collets.

Hmm, in recent emails to Stuart about my ideas he did not say that the 500 barrels would not fit, maybe i should just check with him (or have a look when my barrels come back) He did suggest the NLM pick-up mod is a good 'tuning ' aid. So maybe i should sell my 500 heads and buy one of those!!
