Is this normal behaviour?

Post by JohnChell »

Hi everyone

I’ve just got a Morini, well thats not quite true I’ve had it for a couple of months, but now it works (thanks Paul). I rode my Morini (T reg 350 Strada) for the first time on Friday, then I took it to Founders day on Saturday, and tonight I cleaned it for the first time. Now it’s not the prettiest or most original Morini ever, it’s a sort of strange silver grey colour with go faster stripes made out of blue sticky tape, I think it has susuki handlebars and the cases are kind of weathered rather than polished, infact it’s not even that I particularly wanted a Morini, I swapped half of a more modern Motoguzzi for it. Nonetheless, at 11:00 tonight I found myself out in the garage, a good hour after I had finished doing any meaningful cleaning, just sort of looking at it from different angles and trying to find reasons not to leave it in on its own the garage, I also find myself with a ridiculous grin all over my face when I even think about riding it. Is this normal behaviour for a new Morini owner? Will the novelty wear off? Or are these funny little bikes strangely addictive?
:D

Cheers

Hi,
They are addictive. During my divorce 20 years ago, she got the kids, I got the bikes. Still seems a good deal to me! Before this and since, other bikes have come and gone, but my Sport has always been 'the keeper' (now 35 years!) Now have a Strada in the garage to keep it company.
Carry on admiring the many pleasant design details and don't worry about it being standard. Thankfully very few owners do.

George.

They are enjoyably addictive. I bought my '75 Strada four years ago as something of a diversion from my 100bhp Ducati Monster. After a year I'd hardly ridden the Monster, because every time I opened the garage door I looked at the two bikes, went Hmmm and jumped onto the Morini. The Ducati was sold and replaced with a 3 1/2 Sport to keep the Strada company, and then I went and bought a 3 1/2 with a 500 engine transplanted.

So yes, Morinis can be an addiction, but you only get addicted to something that feels really good...

Happy riding, Mark.

Got mine about 15 years back did not know much about them but it was cheep and I could see
a profit, I still have the thing many others have come and gone but the Strada stays,
they are just a lovely thing to ride, and any way I am a sucker for V twins.
