My bike has two pieces of what looks like the sort of stuff that plumbers use to lag pipes between the tank and frame. Now I am giving the bike a few more revs I find the tank resonates quite badly. Its spoliing my enjoyment of the bike.

What do others have or dont have between their tank and frame?

I have two bits of inner tube wrapped around each of the frame tubes at the back of the tank and taped in place, the tank sits nicely on them, another bit of inner tube secures the rear of the tank to the frame bit. I don't have anything on the main frame spine.

My original tank didn't resonate but had ++leaks.A replacement tank resonates.I have put that exact grey insulation on the frame in a bid to reduce it. I dont know. I have a K which has a single mount at the rear and the front has a pair of bungs on the frame over which the tank slots ( if it isn't rying to snag the wiring loom). There's got to be an answer.

Held on with a thin cable tie around each frame tube at the rear of the tank.
Designed for the job, work perfectly and they don't look like a bodge. (Which the original grey closed cell foam pad that Morini fitted at the factory certainly did before it disintegrated!)

Went for the rubbers from discovolante,seems like an improvement but theres still a bit of resonance . I am trying to fathom out where its from.

If there is still resonance, then either something is touching the tank (or vice versa), or something is too tight/stiff.
Are there any witness marks in the paint underneath to show where something is rubbing? Eg. Air cleaners, cables, coils?
I seem to recall many years ago that I had to remove about 3 mm from the front of the seatpan of a second hand dual seat I bought to stop it contacting the tank. Other possibilities are control cables, even fuel lines being too stiff.

Ahh! It's not just me then?!! Had to do the same before I had the tank painted. The seat was always a 'whack to fit' on the bike, had been apparently ever since my mate bought it when it was just 4 years old, and it was only when I looked at it with some of the cover pulled off the front that it became clear what the problem was. Doh .... Still, the dremel sorted it.
