Rewire - Cable Ampage Rating
Hi - I'm doing a total rewire of my 1979 Sport. What amp rating cable should be used please? Is there any distinction between the general loom and the main lighting circuit? My bike is 12 volts spec. Very grateful for assistance here please. Thanks, Nick.

Re: Rewire - Cable Ampage Rating
Hi Nick,
For the general wiring I use 1mm2 (16A) cable, and for battery and regulator feed and earth plus the main switch feed I went up to 1.5mm2 (28A). Can't help with starter cable size or solenoid feed sizes as all my bikes are kickstart only. When I have built both my looms I have used a redrawn diagram that cuts out a large amount of unnecessary toing and froing of the cables to the variuos connector blocks, meaning that the mess under the right hand cover is reduced to a much tidier ten or twelve cables. i also made use of weatherproof multipin connectors and fully insulated japanese style bullet connectors.
Please! For your own pride, invest in some proper crimping pliers and don't use those hideous red, blue and yellow pre insulated terminals. Nothing looks worse than a loom finished with them. You will find all manner of subsequent uses for them as well.
Regards, George.

Hi George,
Thanks very much for the reply; gratefully appreciated. Could I please have a copy of your cut down wiring loom diagram? That would be terrific!
My bikes a kick start only model too.
Thanks, NIck
