Steve I made a suitable tool by cutting a v-shaped slot into a piece of flat steel with a hacksaw. Then I turn it with an ajustable spanner.Crude I know. What else to do in this weather?

I just bought a huge screwdriver (at a place where they sell tractor suplies) at €15 euros and took a dremel tool to cut out the centre bit... works like a charm already for years

Thanks Guys,
I have undone a few clutches but this one is really screwed up TIGHT. I had not thought of the tractor shop option so will go for the tool steel solution/Big screwdriver and yes the weather is special!!

Use penetrating fluid (ATF and Acetone is about as good as anything) and some heat first. The studs can break loose from the drum!
I have a bit of hex bar stock with the slotted drive in the end. You can use it with a spanner or a socket.
