Hi All,
Not sure what happened there. I'll try again. Just got my hands on this morini. Not a pretty site i'll grant you but there's gold there. Its a 1976 strada with one owner from new with just 3900 genuine miles on her. The owner parked it in 1979 and never rode it again!!! Time has not been kind as it has not been stored well. There is rust and corrosion everywhere, wheel rims are shot as is the exhaust, seat pan etc. But, engine turns over freely with good compression and the oil is still honey colour with no trace of water. I'm hoping that i will be able to rescue 80-90% but i'm sure more bits will go poof in a cloud of rust as i set to taking her apart. I'm unsure wether its a series 1 or 2 as i thought all 1s had wire wheels and drums along with cev switch gear and al 2s had mag wheels and discs with different switch gear? Any clues? Off into the garage now to see whats what and cover her in gallons of wd40. Nice to be here.

Hi Padlock, and welcome to Morini, and the club Forum...

In between the drum brake, wire wheeled and disc braked cast wheeled 350s there was the perfect year of wire wheel, disc brake models. That was in late 1975 through to early 1977 (not all Morinis sold as soon as they hit the shops, you see). That equates to P through R and S registration in the UK. In some respects these models could be considered to be the very best to have, as all the early problems had been sorted and the machines were still simple, pure motorcycles with half decent switchgear and no frills such as mirrors and electric starts.

As Mark says, a piccie or two would be good, and if you're close to a club section, get yourself along there ~ although some are more active than others. Which county / country are you in?
