Hi, my battery has died after just 14 months which has cheesed me off to saythe least. I have never had a battery expire after so short a time in 30 years of biking. It was a nitro ybl14.
What does everyone recommend to replace it with? I have searched the forum and see odyssey recommended, on ebay they are £87.50 . Also on ebay there is the motobatt in fetching yellow for £33.99 from busters, it claims 20% more starting power and no messing with acid, which appeals to me.
Is the odyssey that much better ? How many are using them ? what about motobatt?
Lets hear your views

Re: Battery 350 sport 1980
Because I've removed the electric starter from my '82 350K, I'm currently using the battery from a Kawasaki KMX125 - mainly becuase I happened to have one kicking about. It's been in there for three of four years, doesn't get charged over the winter and still had enough juice to turn on the electric fuel tap when it came to the Big Spring Dust Off a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what make it is; I bought it from a local indy bike shop for about £15.

Re: Battery 350 sport 1980
I have a MotoBatt in my Strada an am very happy with it. It seems to hold it's charge well when not used. The spec seems similar to the Odessey but at half the price, it probably isn't quite as good but at the price good value. When the battery in the Sport expires I'll get one for that too.

Got an Odessey on my BM trouble you and can say it is excellent but you have the crux of the problem in one. It is expensive on the other hand I have had it for a very long time now probably eight years without a spot of bother. Never got round to even trying to fit one in my Morini. The Odessey is particulary excellent in cranking power as it delivers big Amps so if it is a reluctant elec start bike this would be a good option.
Good luck with the choice the Hawker is pricey but is a good battery.

I have a PC680 ( I think thats the number on my K1).Never been an issue the past 3 years even with that electric coffee grinder in use.I've had batteries fail after about 15 months on my R60/7 and others lasted 6 years.
Re: Battery 350 sport 1980
I've been running an Odessey for the past few months on my 1980 Sport (replica). I even made an effort - several, actually - to repair the starter. The Odessey can handle the cranking required, but the starter is still not really useful when the bike is cold. That being said, I can almost wear the starter out and it will still have enough charge to kick over. I use an Odessey on my Ducati 750 Monster and I've had it for about 8 years now. It really does handle the cranking required ( the Monster takes a bit of time to get going when cold - not very pleasant for any old battery). I say go for it. Been happy with mine.

In the end went to NLM. They sold me a varta 19 amp hour, fitted the acid charged for an afternoon fitted her this morning started on the electric start first time.
Rang about an odyssey to a firm off of ebay and the girl on the phone had never heard of moto morini! I thought this could be a problem so decided to stay local .
So far so good
