I spent a considerable amount of time and money turning my "nice" Strada into a cafe racing piece of sexy Italian girlfriend (i.e. a Sport replica). Guess I'm too old to stop being a cafe racer!

Thanks for publishing an article about Morini's, though. Never had so much trouble explaining what kind of bike I have before to people. I just tell them its my V-twin...

Haha - you're still patient, then. Considering Morini was left to founder so Ducati could live, I sometimes have to take a little deep breath when asked "what kind of Ducati that is" particularly when they're pointing to the bloody badge on the tank.

Unfortunately here in Memphis they don't even realize its Italian! Most of them think Harley made it for chicks. Hence the V-twin joke. I did have a guy stare at it for a long time the other day and at least figure out it was Italian, but really, they didn't ship many to the states so I think you see more of them in England.

No there were never that many,especially when first sold here they cost roughly the same as a new commando. Then the bike to have.

I suspect a significant number of morinis in the uk have been the result of imports fron nlm and others.

More knowledgeable members may well dispute this but I can probably the count the number of bikes I have actually seen on the road over the past 35 yrs or so on one hand,and I don't have extra fingers!

I get the same thing with My G3 1940WO Matchless I always get asked 'Is it American? What kind of BSA is that?' and the bloody thing has A big 'Flying M' badge on the tank and now I have the same with my Morini

i think they are as good as each other ,just so happens i bought a sport, and as for seeing a morini on the road in my thirty years of biking the only one ive seen is the one i ride, propably as as a schoolboy i had seen a picture of one in a mag i think it was called on two wheels older members will recall the magazine. and it caught my imagination,italian bikes always look cool so allowances are always made when it comes to there quirkyness, a bit like british bikes which i think the morini is similar in lots of ways,which is why we want them, to go and ride and not have them stuck in the garage polishing them,people always stop to chat about the morini more so than any other bike ive had , there definetly is something special about them, it makes me laugh when i listen to the engine on tick over and wonder if it sounds o.k. because i havent heard another one in real life, must get to a club meet,or do they all sound like that sir!
