warm grey wire

Hello all,
Need a bit of advice on this one. The grey wire that comes from the fuse, and I think goes to the head lamp switch on the K1 Sport starts to heat up when the lights are on. I dont know if this is normal, if this is the wrong rated fuse, or the wrong head lamp bulb? The spade connector cools down if you go to side lights. I'm talking about the fuse on the connection block behind the right hand side panel. I have a photocopy of wiring diagram, but can barely read it!! Hope this makes sense

I will have to check this on mine.What wattage rating headlight bulb are you using?

Hi Paul,
If the head light bulb has been replaced with a higher wattage bulb you can expect a hot wire, better to use a relay to carry the heavier load.
Or if you have any high resistance connection you will increase the load and get a hot wire.
I think the original bulb would be 35w, maybe it has been replaced with 55w? chech every connector to see if any sigh of verdigris or grung and clean.

Thanks for getting back to us on that jon, will check out head lamp bulb & rate of fuse iv'e actually put a car type in don't really know if it is too big? Will check out tech page.

Hi John,
Thanks for the information on the bulb. Will have to check it out not to sure about fitting a relay, but maybe it is a good idea if things don't improve its a bit like the more you see the more you find!

Hi all
Thanks to the two John's for the info. Have sorted the problem. It was a combination of bad spade connection to the fuse and the wrong headlamp bulb was a fifty five watt. The colour wiring diagram was a Godsend! Thanks for the advice. I'll be back soon no doubt for more morini wisdom!! Paul
