Hi all, good to see a couple of new converts!

I have just stripped my forks ('80 strada K) ready for re-chroming, they came apart easily but (there's always a but) the 'mushroom' on the end of each damper rod, the ones at the bolt end, have stayed in the slider. As these would be clamped in when tightened is this a problem? I tried to gently drift them out but didn't want to get too heavy handed.
As far as I can see, as long as I make sure the damper rod is seated into the mushroom when I put them back together all should be OK. Or am I being over optimistic?

Hope I'm not too late; tried to reply last week but the board crashed and lost my message.

I did the forks on my 82 K Sport and had the same 'problem', which turned out not to be a problem at all; just make sure everything is properly seated when you put it all back together.

The amount of fork oil needed varies depending on the stroke length and model of forks, so don't believe the Morini manual which is only correct for the earlier models. I used 15W fork oil initially, but have since switched to 20W as I've fitted longer, stiffer shocks which out more weight onto the front end. 15W would be fine for a Strada, I would think.

Thanks Martin, looks like we have the same forks (still not sure if mines a Strada, twin discs and 'S' stamped cases?), how much oil did you use?

I also need new/refurbished tubes, may try Disco Volante and see if they'll deal!

Morinis of that period seem to have been assembled with whatever combination of bodywork and cycle parts was to hand at the time, but the 'S' onthe engine cases should signify that it's a Sport.

Shouldn't it?
