Banjo Bolt size

Post by shambeko »

Could anyone tell me the size of the banjo bolt for the front master cylinder. Looking at getting a Banjo Bolt pressure switch fitted so the brake light will work off the front brake.
Thanks

Hi Si.
Yes it worked fine. With the 500 set up I had the switch mounted on the brake pipe union which is on the bottom yolk of a twin disc set up.You can get either single or double banjo bolts,I bought mine from Venhill.

An update on fitting a front brakelight switch to a '79 3 1/2.
The M10 x 1.25mm switch I bought did not fit the Grimeca MC, must be a different thread to the banjo on the 500 yolk. Bought a M10 x 1.00 switch which fits great. All wired up to the same fusebox connections as the rear brale light and works great.
Hopefully my brother will now not complain my brakelight doesn't work, I very rarely use the back brake.

No worries Dave.
Some bikes do seem to have different size bolts in various places.I'll stick the other on E-bay some time. The first one I ordered never arrived so they sent me a replacemet. Otherwise I would have found out earlier.

That's interesting, I'd (wrongly) assumed they were all 1.25 pitch.

I was about to order new brake lines and banjos....

So it's 1 pitch on the master cylinder, 1.25 at the union, and 1.25 at the caliper?

Posting attempt 10.
Might be worth checking them all before ordering new lines. Not sure what size the calper is.
