electrical questions

Hi all, as the strip-down of the Strada K continues I have come up against a few questions:

The stator has a white wire which I can't see marked on the wiring diagram, it goes to the fuse box, what's if for?

Also it's a K model it would have had an electric start but it's been removed and had an earlier side case fitted, I want get rid of the start/on-off switch, there's a green wire from the off/run side of the switch will I need to do anything to bypass this or will it be OK just to remove it?

Finally, the flywheel looks like an electric start one with the 'bowl' removed (although I can't see where it's been removed) so neither of my flywheel holders fit, any thoughts?

Si

PS Does anyone have a 1982 supplementary parts book I can get a copy of?

Hi,

I have the same white wire on my 500 which is not connected to the fuse box. I queried this with NLM and they said it is an earth wire and is not fitted to all stators. My charging system works fine without it connected.

Cheers, Enfie.

Suplimentary ignition earth.

Yes, it's just a 'kill' wire that gets connected to earth to stop the engine.
Finally, the flywheel looks like an electric start one with the 'bowl' removed (although I can't see where it's been removed) so neither of my flywheel holders fit, any thoughts?
Yes, don't use one!

Remove the flywheel with an air or electric impact wrench. I can trust my impact wrench settings and can also use it to put the flywheel back on, but a combination of standing on the rear brake and holding the flywheel by hand usually works, or you can use a strap wrench.

Thanks Enfie and Paul, I jerried up a strap tonight and whipped it off, also found a wiring diagram for an electric start and what you said now makes sense, and yes you are a guru!

I'm always impressed with the help that comes from the forum (and the list), I think there's something about where Morinis sit, they appeal to the slightly left of field, but haven't fallen to the purists (yet).

So thanks again gentlemen, although I'm afraid I suspect it won't be the last questions...
