Stator Resistance / Rewind

Hi,

What resistance should I see across the two yellow wires from the stator/generator. Mine has 1 ohm ( a bit low) and I am aiming to rewind it as per the instructions on the Morini NL owners site. Any tips or success stories to report relating to stator rewinds.

Hi,

I can conclude this post, my old kanguro stator measured 1 ohm which I thought was incorrect ( after having converted the stator from 6v/12v to 12v only). Have just rewound using the 350 winding procedure (morini nl club many thanks) which has a split phase with centre tap ( thanks to Paul for that info). And I measure 1 ohm!!, so 1 ohm between the yellow wires appears to be ok. Also between each yellow wire and the red wire (centre tap) I am seeing 0.7-0.8 ohm. Hope this is useful as these values do not appear to exist on the web yet. Just putting the engine together enough to test run it and check if my windings skills pass the test.

Hi,

Talking to myself again, just to confirm all working ok, engine fired up no problems ( first time since May06, sitting in back garden under cover). Also stator output good getting a good 14.8v from regulator ( using swiss brand meant for new royal enfield's). So stator coil after rewind was 1 ohm total ( 0.7-0.8 ohm per phase measured at centre tap) and ignition coil ended up at about 270 ohm.

Interesting info.

Worth archiving....

I think the reason you are not getting any replies is not so much that no one is interested......more that it is really a specialist area that few folk have taken on.

Well done for that.

Forza!

Thats ok, I don't mind talking to myself :) , I just like to understand what I am riding, and as you can probably tell I do a lot myself. Also as you said it is worth archiving and getting the info available. Engine started really well today, will post video clip in the offroad section so you can hear what the Ducati termigoni silencers sound like on a Morini!.
