hello everyone, just thought i would drop you a line to let you know about my solution to the problem of fitting a swan neck kickstarter with tarrozzi rearsets. i've tried to attach some photos to explain but had problems so here goes. i modified the part that fits between the brake lever and the knurled/threaded disc. its part no is 02 0019 and it holds the end of the brake cable. it has 6 holes drilled that match the holes in the brake lever. a pin, part no 02 0018, sits within these holes and locates the two componants correctly, so what i did was drill/file to join 3 of the locating holes in part no 020019 together to form a curved slot, this allows the pin to move freely through around 90' so when you want to kickstart the bike simply lift the brake lever out of the way, no need to fit the extender block, no need to cut down the brake pedal. after snapping two brake levers thinking i had just enough clearance this solution seems to solve the problem. Hope this explanation is clear enough to understand, i think theres a link on the site showing the fitting of tarrozzi's which shows the parts with part no's, i'll try to work out how to post images so the explanation makes sense.

Nice solution. Another solution for the same set up is to use a Kawasaki fold up footpeg for the brake lever. These pegs use a long rod that can be cut down near the hinge, so that you have about a 1 inch toe peg consisting of the a stub of the rod and the hinge. This screws into the brake lever, and the toe peg can get folded up and back so it clears the swan neck NLM kick start lever. Cannot take credit for this idea; it came from a now forgotten website (not here), but I can attest for the fact that it does work great. Kawi footpegs came from a 70s-80s dirtbike. They are on Ebay usually (used). I have one left over (bought a pair) that anyone can have if they send a box and postage.

Your idea of modifying the Tarozzi rearsets looks nice, but I have some concerns about the resistance of the pin. In the original set-up it only has to withstand a shear stress. By removing the embedding (is it the right word in English?) in the hole of part 020019, it adds a bending moment to the shear stress.

Maybe better engineers would disagree, but I have the feeling that you increase the stress on the pin. Knowing that Tarozzi's products are far from being overdimensioned, I would have some fears of breaking the pin under hard braking or by fatigue of the material.

Any advise of specialists?

I saw the article on a web site long forgotten about using Kwaka folding pegs. and used the same basic idea but modified the Torozzi peg using the rubber sleeve as a spring and made a clevis for the peg to turn 90 degrees to fold back out of the kick start way.
The idea of slotting the Torozzi to swing the pedal up is sound, I doubt the shear force on the pin is too great unless you were standing on the brake pedal?
