OK, dumb question that I used to know the answer to but I've forgotten - can a Morini be run w/o the battery or will it kill the alt/reg? If not, anyone know if the battery can be replaced with a suitable capacitor?

The MM in question is a 250 twin, c. 1983, but I'm asking more out of simple curiosity than anything.

A battery is required to turn the regulator on. Running the alternator open circuit won't hurt it.
