Hi,
Been lurking around this forum for ages now, so I'd better introduce my self and show you what I am up to. First off, I have never owned or even ridden a Morini but have always thought of them as quirky little Italian bike! 2 years ago while on ebay and pissed on strongbow (again!) I made a max bid on an Excalibur 501 for £200 and the next day (sober) reaalised that I had won the wretched thing for £127 and I cannot stand factory "customs". So here is a pic of what I won! Are these things gross or what!

Hi CJ,
Yeah, I feel for ya mate, ugly, ugly, ugly. As I'm a sympathetic sort of chap I'll offer to help you out-£130 and I'll collect for free. Howzat? Smelt the rat yet? Them engines are good you know.........and they can be fitted in other rolling chassis easily enough. Still, who wants the bother eh? PM me for my rescue service details.
Steve.

I've always felt there are prettier Morini's - but that is just my opinion, each to their own etc!

Umm, isn't it missing a tyre or something on the front wheel?

just build a cafe racer out of it, this is what i did to A Guzzi V65 Custom:
when I bought it

and when I got into rebuilding about halfway
So if you really want to ride Morini you can make something out of it!

OK, OK, this is what the excalibur is becoming! and no i wont sell the engine! the excalibur bits went back on ebay and made more than what i paid for the complete bike. have a look,
I bought a 31/2 frame for this project and it has a 426cc motor (31/2 bottom end, 69mm bore 500cc top end) that i bought of ebay while the excalibur motor is rebuilt

- with 426cc motor
- morini 2010 002 (Small).JPG (50.16 KiB) Viewed 12773 times
and the excalibur motor after stripping and glass bead blasting
I am going to race/parade/trackday this bike, what do you think?
I am also converting the crankshaft to roller timing side, pic shows it on my grinder!
I would also like as much advice on this project as possible and i will load more pics as and when i can!
Ciao

Strewth! That looks like a project with great promise. I was going to try a go at the next MRC trackday, but if your taking that I think I'll just sulk instead. I'll give you £200 for the lathe then
Steve
an after thought, it's a good job this club isn't populated by rivet counters/originality freaks innit?

Blimey I wish I had that much space and tools to work with.I only have a 40 year old vice and I've bent the bar on it trying to push out a very stubborn bush.

Hi Croz,
That looks really nice, shame I will not be able to see it at the MRC track day so post a photo when it's completed.
3pot don't worry about your 40 year old vice, mine is past 60 and still working fine, I would advice you straighten the handle though??
Regards
John

Look forward to seeing "it" and you at "Cadwell!" I'm busy "rebuilding another bike at the moment- a "vee twin" but slightly larger- my old "Vinnie!'

It's done 70,000 miles with little attention!!

I have a 420 motor in my 250 tho I don't know how it's been done. I presume it's the same conversion. I can report that it goes very well indeed, very rev happy and responsive tho a bit lumpy at low revs, it feels like the con rods are connected directly to the rear wheel. Not sure what cam is in it. The rear cylinder is a bit of a tight fit in the frame and the exhaust keeps blistering the paint on the side panel despite various heat shields and air scoops I've tried. Hopefully I *will* make it to Cadwell this year.
