Well,
Thanks for all the info.
I've now learned from this forum and a brief email to NLM that there are, and always were, a variety of pipe lengths aft of the balance pipe. Mine end about 10 inches behind the balance pipe, hence the need to trim the pipes to prevent them hitting the baffles ( they just cleared with Sito's).
It seems lopping the ends off the pipes to suit the new silencers is not a problem, although I suppose the wrong type of silencer could well be.
Cheers all, and Happy Christmas!

Amazing how many viewpoints and experiences there are on this pipe extension issue, not surprising as the factory seem to have varied the lengths or even existence of them at will.
Whatever, I've cut the pipes, fitted the new silencers and treated the fueling system to a bit of tlc.

I know what Paul means about the crispness of the earlier bikes, I felt the same when I got my 75 model a couple of years ago, but the initial road test of this K Sport with it's new silencers and pipe mods has just put a big smile on my face, which we'd all agree, is what it's all about! :D
