Rear wheel removal.

Post by 3potjohn »

Bit of a dimwit question this but here goes. What is the approved way of removing and refitting a rear wheel from a rear disc model 350? I thought I could leave the sprocket carrier in situ but I cannot get the hub past the cush rubbers. In the end I seem to have to loosen everything and wiggle it about, with the old syndrome of not being able to easily clear the rear mudguard thrown in.

Wheel out!

Post by alan j »

On my 500 this works-remove axle, lift caliper out of the way,and spacer{if I remember correctly}-should then clear, leaving sprocket in place. Take off nearside silencer to aid wheel removal-putting it back takes 3 hands!! {but what do I know! :?: :?: Alan {morini}Jennings-with apologies to Steve Brown for adopting his "name"!

Cheers for that. I wondered about the method I use on my BMW's namely remove front wheel, tie centre stand to prevent it retracting, pivot bike down onto forks remove rear wheel. They're a bit of a dead weight if it goes wrong of course.
