Kick start lever set up

Hi All

I took my extended kick start lever off the other day to clean my clutch plates. Stupidly i did not mark its position on the spline, which when you pull the kick start off, off immediately rotates anti clock wise. I've found a mid position between not having enough throw on the kick and not engaging/dragging when running but does anyone have any advice, or am i about right? Anyway lesson learned.

I make a reference line on the case, same idea with foot controls and an arrow scored inside oil filter cover. No brain required!
