Re: low to mid range flat spot
The results of your last atomiser mod seems to confirm that they are worn or scored etc. They are probably the part of the carbs that get the most wear? If it helps and you want to improve it a little more, I have had good results with raising the slide cutaway on a couple of Morini after finding that even with new atomisers there was richness in that area of throttle opening. The Sport cam should not have any negative effect, just alter the power characteristics.

I have actually ordered new E17 needles and 260K atomiser as I couldn’t get BD, also got .8mm drill and 2.6 reamer to modify, but I am reluctant to mess now and might leave it until I have carbs of again or end of winter/spring time.Steve Brown wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 12:33 The results of your last atomiser mod seems to confirm that they are worn or scored etc. They are probably the part of the carbs that get the most wear? I did think about slides having seen Paul Compton mention it a few times, but question is how much and once removed can’t go back, and the price of new ones is rather expensive, will certainly think about it as time goes on, happy for now but Im certain I will decide it could be better,
Thanks again all
Re: low to mid range flat spot
If I could help somebody with my findings I would gladly, but sadly I am a hands on bloke not a writer, hate filling forms and neither a trained mechanic or engineer.
Unfortunately I don’t think I could make interesting reading, if anybody wants to write it up using what I have done (rightly or wrongly) that’s fine by me I would help out
Thanks barney

Yes they are a bit pricey. I was lucky enough to have spares so filed them. First step at 0.5mm then I got really brave and took another 0.5mm off. It doesn't need much and is best done in stages and tested, as every bike will be different with the changes in exhausts and airboxes over the years.
