Members, any one know where one can acquire the rubber retention ring which holds the rear of the gas tank in place? I see Mdinaitalia lists it on their web site, unfortunately they are out of stock. Mine has finally broken.

Re: Gas tank rubber retention ring
I've used Hoover vacuum cleaner rubber drive belt rings for years. They do the job on my Strada and seem to last quite well. The one currently on my bike has been there about 5 years and is still good. Your local vacuum cleaner spares stockist should be able to sort you out with one.

An alternative that I have used is an 'o' ring of suitable dimension sourced from ebay.
Incidentally, the foam rubber pad(s) that sit under the tank on the frame spine are close enough to those fitted for the same job on the 750/850 Norton Commando and the rubber buffers at the rear corner of the tank are as near as dammit those fitted to Norton Dominators.

Re: Gas tank rubber retention ring
Yes, as already said-washing machine/vacuum cleaner spares! As for the support pad the originals will have crumbled away years ago and were only a cheap piece of porous foam anyway. I started cutting up old camping mats-closed cell foam and cheap enough. The originals were also a bit marginal on thickness and I find 2 x camping mat bits cushion it nicely. I don't camp much these days either!

Re: Gas tank rubber retention ring
For years I've been using the the large rubber seals from car oil filters which last for years.
Worth asking at a garage if you don't do your own car oil changes.

Re: Gas tank rubber retention ring
Mine has a piece of rubber clearly fashioned from inner tube. Not pretty with a big knot in it but effective.
Re: Gas tank rubber retention ring
Mine simply has a wide black cable tie
Not tight, just enough to allow flex on the rubber foam the back of the tank sits on.
