Can anybody help with over reading tacho problem please ?
A friend has made up the module as per the diagram http://www.motomoriniclub.nl/REVcounteradapter.pdf I sent him for the tacho pick up as I have the transducers with out the tacho terminal.
Connected it as per diagram and Tacho works but without putting my manual Tacho reader on it is reading roughly twice what it should be, I have wrapped the grey wire around the front plug lead as I presume it makes no difference, any ideas welcome please ?
Also Thanks to the Lady that made my mate a cup of Tea at Stafford show last week
Ok, the widget was made to the diagram in my previous post, not by me as I didn’t understand all the symbols in it, after it was made I wired it in as per diagram the wrapped the wire to the plug lead four times and tested it, tacho worked but without measuring rpm it was obvious it was reading at least x2 what it should be.
I then experimented with different amount of wire wrapped around the lead but that made little difference so a quick post on here then google for a few hrs drew several blanks, then while it was running I unwrapped the wire and the tacho started to alter, long story short don’t run the wire in the same direction as the plug lead, so I got some 2.5 twin & earth stripped out 1 solid copper wire wrapped that around 4 times then took the wire away from plug lead at 90 degrees then bent it 90 again so it’s took the grey wire about 20mm away from the lead then connected it with a spade.
This now seems very close haven’t checked it against my handheld manual tacho or road tested it yet, hopefully the weekend
