Another Question!!
Another Question!!
Evening! I’ve got the chain & sprockets for my 520 conversion on my 1980 Strada. I just want to ask I’ve replaced the sprockets like for like, which I understand as being 14/38 and will be having the DID O ring chain cut down from 110 to 96. I just want to confirm this combo is correct as everywhere I check on the original 530 3 1/2’s it always suggests 14-38 x 96 links? Thanks in advance (again!)
Re: Another Question!!
96 links on a 14/38 sprocket set seems correct. I went from 530 to 520 years ago, to run o or x ring chain.

Re: Another Question!!
Make sure you check the length of the rear sprocket bolts. The thinner sprocket means that they can bottom out inside the rear hub and do damage to the wheel.
Re: Another Question!!
Thank you both, would you suggest washers to minimise that risk or just source shorter bolts (and how would I determine how short?)

Re: Another Question!!
As the sprocket is bolted to the separate carrier you will be able to see how far the bolts protrude and assess if they are at risk of doing damage. I think there should be plenty of room and don't recall changing anything other than the sprockets when I did the conversion. As the new sprocket is around 1/16" thinner then a slightly thicker washer will do the trick if you need it.
