speedo light

Post by dunk 1 »

Hello - I presume hat the wiring into the speedo is for a bulb inside. Does this part just pull out of the speedo at the black "plug" or does it need dismantling to remove it?
Thanks - Duncan

I believe the black rubbery piece (about 1cm diameter and with 2 wires coming in/out of it) is the bulb holder, it should come out with a gentlish pull so you can replace the bayonet bulb. The bulb is probably a 4 watt 12v item, commonplace and should be easy to obtain online.

Hmm - a gentle pull is definitely not working. does the metal ring at the base come out with it as this is moving with the black plastic bit? I want to tidy as its earth is scotched to another earth in the mixed up wiring in the warning lights. only high beam has ever worked and I want to get it tidy. thanks Duncan

Lucky they stay in, mine are on the loose side.I used red leds , just to be flash. Didn’t tend to ride in the dark much anyway, too many deer about.

just bit the bullet and and swivelled it out via the metal ring at the base which is as assumed part of the bulb holder. Bulb is fine but the bulb holder is well past its best - Mdina seem to do a replacement so probably easiest if more expense - Duncan
