Private messages

Hi I am not sure if I am having a problem with private messages. Today replied to 4 messages I received yesterday yet they are still showing in my outbox with a sent time against them. Yesterday replied to a message and that doesn't sit in my outbox that is in my sent box. Has anyone got an explanation?

A message will remain in your outbox until seen be the recipient.
