I've recieved a set of Venhill throttle cables for my 3 1/2 that just don't work.
The length of the sheath is correct on both but the free length of cable is too short on both (one actually shorter than the other)
Can someone tell me the proper cable length, and possibly a different (better) manufacturer???

Throttle cables
Hi,
I got my cables from:
T Johnson Cables GB
5 Laburnham Grove
Banbury
Oxfordshire
OX16 9DP
UK
Tel: +44 (0)1295 250430
They will also make you cables with adjusters in them about 6" from the throttle which makes carb balancing so much easier.
George.

I've stopped buying cables from Venhill after several problems. Too short, too long, or even ends pulling off!
I make my own these days.
There are different versions of the Tomaselli twistgrips that need different length inner cables (or you can drill the twistgrip deeper).
I have to say that I don't like the throttle cables with the mid point adjusters. I've never had a problem getting the standard cables synchronised and the adjuster versions add far too much slack to the systems so the synchronisation keeps drifting out. The Dart uses a splitter box and elbows and suffers from the same problem.

D'you mean the amount the inner is longer than the outer? It should be the same on both. The rear cable overall is a bit longer than the front.mgill wrote:I've got a "Verlicchi" throttle. Maybe part of the problem, but the Venhill cables are different lengths.... should they not have the same free length???
A lot of companies let the customer do the quality control, nowadays...
