Petcock info needed

I'm getting closer with my stranda. I secured a very clean early tank in that crazy period metallic blue. Good chrome on the fuel tap and no rust. But it has no petcocks. I've found a source for the 16x1.0mm taps. I need to ask you all what orientation the fuel fittings require. The petcocks have a L, R, behind, or down location of the barbed fuel fitting. Can you please help me out?

The standard taps go out behind, I have one that goes down and the pipe path isn't so good.

Whatever works best to put the levers in the position you prefer and to give the fuel pipes the easiest run with the most generous radius bends.
