Aluminium head gasket

Post by Parker3865 »

Has anyone a source of head gaskets? looking for 2. OR what type of aluminium are they and what thickness? I could have a go at making some then.

Athena
In full kit yes

It's listed as moto morini 4T 250 ULTIMO TIPO 1983/4
(last type)

https://www.athena.eu/en-us/complete-ga ... P20077.htm

Note the picture is wrong it shows kit for 125 KJ.
So best to check before order, even if they have them.
Ask for 250 BICILINDRICO ULTIMO TIPO 1983/1984

Gaskets are likely made by Centauro.

Mdina have account with Athena, but I think you can buy direct.

P.s may be you set the site for UK pounds.

Thanks for the info; Finally got around to contacting them, I'll see what they say and report back.
In the meantime I have a 350 Gasket that I have reverse engineered into a CAD drawing so I could have a go at making my own.
(I have various 3D files for a 3D printer at; https://thangs.com/mythangs/folder/12319 )

Yes, they confirm to ignore the picture. Haven't ordered a set yet.

Thanks,
I ordered a set anyway from Italy let's see what comes.
All other gaskets are usable on 350s anyway.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on. Sorry to use you as a guinea pig!
I did start measuring a 350 gasket to produce a dimension drawing for a 250 gasket. Should not be too hard to make some, just need the right grade of alloy.

Well ordered received and it's as per picture, I.e a 125 Ultimo tipo. So they were wrong.
It's not too bad to order two sets as you just end up with a spare clutch cover gasket. I don't use the wimpy centre paper gasket. But I expect I have been overcharged.

So kit contains
1 rocker gasket, thick type
1 exhaust gasket
1 head gasket aluminium correct type
1 base gasket aluminium
1 clutch cover gasket
1 crankcase half gasket

Oddly no oil filter gasket
I ordered from King of Pistons as I needed other stuff.

Sorry to hear it was the wrong kit, I guess they don't know their stock properly. Worth bearing in mind when Benjy Straw starts work on my engine. I will have to progress with trying to make my own head gasket then! Could you let me know the thickness of the gasket please?

Well you could make your own gasket, but if you order two kits you just end up with a spare clutch cover gasket, no big deal, and usable on any 350, for me and likely Benjy too as they say

ma il tempo è denaro

On the plus side I now know that someone makes these gaskets, probably Centauro, I will see if we can get the head gaskets alone.
I will check the thickness, but won't a sheet of material cost?

There are only two occupations of Morini owners it seems; Engineer or teacher, or both i.e teacher of engineering as in your case!
I will measure up, cant help on the exact grade though, I can send you a used one if that helps..

I'm thinking it must be the same thicknesd and type as the 350 one so may be ok.
Such fun!

Many thanks for that. Will fire up my CAD and start working out a cutting path. May be some time as I haven't used my milling machine before. Always learning 😃
