I've just been looking at the technical stuff in the library pertaining to the water-cooled vee's. Sadly my German isn't up to much or, indeed, anything at all, but the pictures tell a story. Looking at a top-end dismantle, my eye was caught by the detail of the camshafts, and the gadget on the end which looks suspiciously like a centrifugal advance/retard for valve timing. Do we really have such a modern feature in our motors? If so, Lambertini goes even further up in my estimation!

Hi Nick,
I think it is to assist starting, maybe a valve lifter.
If there was variable valve timing then surely the marketing department would have mentioned it? With 4" pistons it might be a bit of a squeeze on compression!
I'm sure somebody who knows will be along shortly.

Indeed it is a centrifugal decompressor.
I remember Ducati boasting about the same feature on the first Panigale in 2011.

I thought such things were limited to chain-saws and mowers these days, but it makes a lot of sense reducing the load on starter motor and battery with two 600cc pots to turn over!
Very satisfying to know that such consideration was put into the design of our motor.
