corsaro windblast

Post by twisty »

Has anyone fitted a different screen or changed their handlebars to stop the windblast from restricting your speed.

I'm about 6ft and find the windblast a real problem at higher speeds. I was toying with the idea of clip ons to lean forward on the bike , has anybody tried anything similar?

I am also over 6' but having had Benelli TNT's and an Aprilia Tuono I have now got use to the problem, I believe power bronze will mould something for you if you speak to them, the only problem is I personally (as an Engineer) don't think the bracket that holds the front cowl and indicators on would be strong enough to take the additional weight/wind pressure of an extended screen.
As for lower bars, well maybe you should have a look at the Benelli Cafe Racer's bars for looks and ideas.
You will also see quite a few components on the Benelli ie switch gear are identical to the Moto Morini.

I find a 90mph just about do-able as a constant speed.

have you seen this....

Spoils the look though IMO.

I did notice the amount of flex in the original nose fairing.

As you say it would probably need to be braced or laminated on the reverse side if anything resembling a decent screen was to be fitted. Don't fancy a nose fairing being ripped off into my face at speed
Had monster neck muscles years ago from hanging on for dear life after hours on a naked bike. I'd like to enjoy the bike more but not alter the looks too much.

I have been in contact with Maniac Motors and the "Maske Touring" is a new flyscreen cowl and the screen because the original flyscreen is too weak to mount the top bit on. They will also paint it to match (red & silver in my case).

Costs are: Maske Touring 195 € + Painted 145 € + shipping to UK 18,50 € = 358,50 € !! Which is expenseive and also not that bad seeing as you are getting a new flyscreen, screen and paint but +-£308.85 (depending on exchange rate) but is a bit much to pay in one go for a screen?

Has anyone tried the "Maske Touring"?

Any other ideas? I want a screen as I plan to go on a long trip to Scotland soon.

As an alternative, a tank bag is a pragmatic solution especially for a long trip (as in "I plan to go on a long trip to Scotland soon").

The bag keeps the wind off your chest and helps deflect it over your shoulders, and also carries a big part of your kit. The Morini one has allegedly been updated and should now have fasteners that fix it simply to the tank cover like the well thought through Bagalux system - early examples have two sets of straps. Worth a check before spending £200, though

Good riding,

I have a Ventura luggage system ( http://www.ventura-bike.co.uk/image.ash ... height=400 ) which cost about the same as the tank bag and is more versatile because I have never really got on with tank bags. But it is a good idea and I see how it can work.

Another Option(s):
MRA Screens:
http://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/Screens ... Bikes.html
maybe the MRA VARIO TOURING SCREEN FOR NAKED BIKES
http://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/info_VTNB.html which looks more square than round where it fits over the lights and may fit over the flyscreen?

Maybe one of these MV Agusta Brutale screens could be made to work?

toying with the idea of fitting the screen from an mz 1000sf.
Its solid black on the lower parts/clear upper and has a flip up at the top.
Due to being flexible it does conform to the corsaros small flyscreen without breaking if bolted properly.
the screen is only the centre section of the fairing in the link below

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... f%2005.htm

It fits not too bad over the top of the existing bikini on the corsaro leaving an extension above the standard screen of about 2 to 4 inches if you want to keep the original look of the bike.

This would let me keep the original look but give me a flip up whch has been wind tunnel tested on the original mz.
I'd probably need a new logo for the bikini if it was face fixed on the front.
It would be possible to fix it from the rear leaving just the flip up showing but i reckon it doesn't look as good.

Don't laugh because its MZ, they are well made items
I'll try and post a pic of just the screen as the bike is in the garage just now.
