So who's going!? I'm still holding out to see what the weather is doing before I book Just don't fancy a wet cadwell!!! Its looking doubtful for me getting the bike run in before so i'll just have to take it easy
yeah I'll be there, last year just didn't feel the same without a trip to cadwell (done it every other year since 2001)
I really wouldn't worry too much about the corsaro not being fully run in, it'll do 90 even if you're still at the 5500 limit, and it'll get there quicker than anything else! keeping to that sort of speed on the straight and park straight will mean you won't have to brake as much and might make your lap smoother and faster.
'Cadwell' as we often call it isn't just about the track- it's a whole weekend of festivities and there are often lots of people who come and don't go out on track- spectating is good, the paddock is relaxed, friendly and full of exotica, the golf club where we stay is a great venue, with good food and plenty of bar talk. And then the weekend's activities are a good way to spend time with like-minded people, unwind, go for a ride and count down the days till next year's event... Do it!!
Pleased that I won't be the only Morini owner spectating instead of out on track. I live at Louth and work at Horncastle, either may take a half day and come down in the afternoon or come for the whole day. Again the weather may decide. What ever I look forward to meeting you all on the day.
Could I just enter a plea from the club? It costs £8K for Cadwell, just for people to decide they will not come if it might rain and therefore they will not pay until the day. We try to run the day at cost but it gets awfully close some years and I am getting to the stage where I might propose to the committee that we make "on the day prices" an extra £50 in future to safe guard the event. Sure you can go and do other track days for less than that, but do you want to spend the entire day surrounded by identical R6s and CBRs(no disrespect meant) and being really strictly controled in the padock.
Cadwell is a very grippy surface, it drys out incredibly fast, there are no cars coming the other way. It also has it's own microclimate as it in the Lincolnshire Wolds(Hills!) so you never know what the weather is doing unless you are actually there. Besides, it is a practice day, so practice riding when the sun is not out.
I though that the oldest rule of riding was that you only go as fast as your right wrist dictates.
If its wet then slow down and be gentle ....
If the club goes to the expense / stress and trouble to book a track day for all us Morini riders then we should embrace this whatever the possible conditions ...
I hope to see you all there ... probably passing me as I get off to push the bike over the mountain and slippery bits.
Surely, the point about track day is that it is you against the track without buses, white vans or Volvos trying to screw you. If it rains it is the chance to find out how to ride quickly in the wet without worrying about idiots on four wheels.
Track days are learning experiences not races - improve your riding by taking that chance.
In the ten years I've been doing track day it has only rained twice and then brieifly - why miss out?
Cadwell Track day update - excellent weather and 2 CORSARO's mixing it on the track. Franky's Veloce running in the Morini group and my std Corsaro in the Intermediate group.
The Corsaro was not the limiting factor .. it was me. Highlights being 130 on the straights and the excellent slipper clutch saving my bacon as i kicked it down 2 or 3 cogs at the end of the straight and down one into most bends without a sniff of the rear locking up.
Corsaro kept several jap sports bikes and a Ducati 748 and 1098 honest, but I bottled it each time over the mountain as the front started to go light and around Chris's loosing time.
The Metzler Rensports were superb and get very hot and sticky and stayd like it for the whole day. Not sure how many miles they will last though?
