SYNCHR throttle bodies Procedure // LAMBDA sensor

Post by rrey »

Hi guys!.

I don´t have the Morini Service Manual so can anybody help with the step by step synchronization procedure for the TBs?. I know the procedure for other bikes I had (Ducati) but it seems Morinis are more sensitive.

Brass screw completely closed as starting point?
Idle sychro with or without stepper motor?
High rpm synch? @ 4000? I asume only in the screw at the rear TB...

About Lambda, it seems some of you have changed the sensor. Do you have a ref or P/N for a suitable sensor from NGK / NTK ??.
What is the advantage of using the Ducati 848 sensor?. I´ve seen some use it!.

Thanks in advance!.

1) connect Vacuum guage/s
2) warm up bike
3) Screw both air screws fully shut (GENTLY seat 'em)
4) Start bike and adjust the cylinder that is pulling the MOST vacuum by unscrewing the air screw a touch until both readings are the same.

Job done.

No need to disconnect the stepper

Lambda = NGK OZA341-BB1

Available here

or you could just buy a key for the ECU and disable it altogether - they are a PITA anyway !

Hi everybody.
My Corsaro runs really well, especially if I use it.
Sometimes when travelling in traffic the engine cuts out and needs to run on the throttle rather than idling.
I have been reading with great interest the posts on the Forum about Lamda, cat, decat and so on. First up when I got the bike from 3X it wouldn't start unless I gave it a tiny bit of throttle and kept the revs at 2k. When I did this the cat glowed cherry red, worrying for me at the time.
When 3X sent a new battery all was better, or was it, I used the bike because I now felt certain it would start when I went somewhere. Perhaps using it has made it work better?
Perhaps the fact that it doesn't like idling is also the nature of the beast?
Anyway I've tried to read up on all this Cat/Lambda stuff and decided to get the one Twisty listed in the previous post. I'll change it as it may stop the cutting in traffic problem, I hope.
Also I'm told by other 'Riders' that It's running rich. I am loath to do anything about it so as not to upset the way the bike runs.
Perhaps if it works don't f*** with it?
I'd like to thank Twisty and DaveH for their help so far in adding invaluable information on the forum. Not that I feel any less worried about the future for my bike.
Wikipedia seems to explain the way Lamda/Cats work for those of us who are learning.
I'll let you know if my new sensor works. Oh and Dave that was really good about the Discs, when I've sold the CB I'll risk a pair of Chinese discs.
Thanks.

Hi,Having had Lambda trouble I used a Ducati item,I was told by a lambda seller that Morini,Ducati,Guzzi and others use the same, the difference being the last three digits on the part number relate to the connector type or cable length,I got mine on Ebay for $US25 and it was in New Zealand in 8 days.I havn`t had a chance to test ride because it`s a tad cold and wet where I live but it starts, idles happily and sounds crisp.

So, I have the new Lambda sensor installed and took it for a ride.
Could it be that the is a substantial difference in the performance of the bike, or am I just still as thrilled to ride it as ever. Had a good sniff at the exhaust, and it isn't as bad as it seemed, fuel smell wise, but can't try that under load on my own. I guess the only thing to do is go for a long trip.

Jedforce, you are in NZ?
That is the best motorcycling country in the world. I've done South Island on a VFR, and was really blown away. I've been back twice since as my son lives in CC. Molesworth station is wilderness at it's best, did the Rainbow road and the Acheron road. Loaned a DR650 from City MC's CC.
£200 for 3 days, bike and all kit except boots.
Good people. :D
Got to go back as I've seen some maps of the Otago region that may be even better.

Cheers

Fully agree re riding NZ. Did 3000k on the South Island in Feb this year and it was fantastic. Hired bikes in CC and enjoyed ourselves that much that we are planning to return in 2013. :D

Hopefully we'll be back at the same time.
Keep in touch. If you do go contact City Scooters Motorcycle hire, they are a real long term Motorcycle family who run a small shop out of CC and have a pickup in Auckland.

Hi,yes,I live in Mt Maunganui (Bay of Plenty) a few days of the week and commute 110kms to the central North Island for a few days to work,Depending on the weather or time of year or if I want to go for a ride. Some very nice roads here, traffic is generally light particularly in the South Island with beautiful scenery (West coast is a stunning ride)If you want to come for a ride I would be happy to find a excuse to get away for a week or so ...and usually have a spare bike or two(Itallian roadbikes),now there`s a offer hard that`s hard to refuse...
