non starter
non starter
hi guys, after putting a new battery on my corsaro it will not start,it turns over but the fuel injection light is on on the dash,is making no attempt to fire, any suggestions as im about 200 miles from 3cross?
Re: non starter
Can you hear the fuel pump pressurising when you turn the key , but don't crank the engine.
Simple things like blown fuse, easy to cross a connection if changing the battery.
have you pulled a lead of a coil to check for a spark. If you are, remove a plug and see if its wet , if its dry the injectors won't be supplying fuel.
go into the self diagnostic function on the dash. If i remember right . Ignition off, keep dash button pressed and switch on to access proper menu. If that doesn't access the self diagnostic then do the same with the kill switch in a different position.
I'd do the self diagnostic first and check the voltage from the new battery on the dash. If it is low it will give you the warning light and won't start.
Good luck and keep the hammer or anything you can fling at the bike out of arms reach

Re: non starter
done the self diagnostics today came up with injectors 1+2 s c g n d cant find anything in manual so where do i find out what these codes mean? thanks for your help so far
Re: non starter
did you change the battery because it was dud or were there other problems as well.
what's the voltage reading on the dash?
Can you hear the fuel pump priming?

Re: non starter
changed the battery cos it was knackered,i think the fuel pump is priming but not sure, theres no fuel getting into the cylinders at all

Re: non starter
prop the tank up after you've made sure its only just under half full or else it will piss fuel out of the overflow pipes.
Asssuming you can hear the pump priming which is pretty obvious, lift the tank as above, disconnect the fuel "flow side" and connect a temp hose to a plastic petrol can and check it is pumping fuel when you switch the ignition on.
If you've got fuel, then i suppose next step is take off the air box cover and remove and refit the injector connectors and any other electrical gubbins.
Best way to do it is to be actually looking down the throttle bodies when cranking over as that way you will see the fuel (or not). You could do this before doing a temp fuel line as it's probably quicker.
Have you looked at the workshop manual flow chart as it may help.
although you've got a new battery it's still important to get the voltage reading at the dash as if it's not high enough i don't think the injectors will work as the ecu sends out warning signals to the dash management light. Only know ,because the injectors on my bike stopped firing when battery voltage was too low and up came the ecu light on the dash.
Bound to be something simple, maybe even a stupid fuse not pushed in properly
why not take some step by step pics

Re: non starter
thanks mate will try that in the next few days and see how i get on
Re: non starter
sorted it out now, fuel pump relay!!thanks for all your herlp

Re: non starter
nice to see it was something simple.
Had the relays corroded or just packed up

for future info of forum users, the DTC codes are interpreted as follows :-
OC Open Circuit
SC Short Circuit
SCGND Short Circuit to Ground
SCVBATT Short Circuit to Voltage Battery
