Low oil pressure at low rpm

Post by sweden »

Hi!

I have a problem with oil pressure under 2000 rpm on my Corsaro 2006. Anyone with the same experiance? I fear a major engine failure with worned bearing!

is it the light coming on or have you actually checked the oil pressure in case the sensor itself is at fault.

I have already changed the oil pressure sensor, new oil and filter. No metal parts in the filters or in the oil.

I think before you go any further try and get a pressure reading by fitting a gauge off the oil cooler flow and return hoses.
Remove the oil cooler if you want and fit a blanking plug to one feed and fit a gauge to the other threaded inlet.

Or somewhere else on the bike that you can tap into the oil feed line.
You can pick one up on ebay for a reasonable sum.

Don't take my word for it though, im not a mechanic

better to spend a small amount of time and money and know whether you have a fault or not. Then go the experts who will gladly lighten your wallet.

looking back at his post i'm probably talking shi*** My line of thinking was don't trust the sensors but get an accurate reading via a pressure test, just as you would if a head gasket was leaking. Otherwise you may go up a blind alley and waste money. Speaking from experience.

someone turned the light out

The cost for the parts is around 2500-3000£ and I am not sure if there are more damage to the engine at this moment.
