Hi, a quick post to introduce myself and hopefully get a few questions answered.

I live in Belper, Derbyshire - capital of the speedophobic local authorities. :cry: .. good roads if you know where to go though !

I bough a Corsaro last week from another forum member....a quick blast confirmed it was as mad as a box of frogs ...

Trailered it home and it has spent a couple of days getting fettled in the workshop...It's certainly not a minter, but already looks about 300% better than when I picked it up - can actually see the shock linkage now, pipes burnished up like new, rear brake pedal / bushing pin straightened out (?) replaced the stock indicators with sensible sized LED ones as my lad said he could'nt see the rears in direct sunlight when following me. Airbox removed reveals two threaded inserts have been stripped out of the bottom half by one of the three previous careful (?) owners and filter has been treated with FOAM filter oil !! Airbox was full of thick tacky gloop - cleaned it out and - will get round to carefully cleaning element and re-oiling with proper stuff as well as fixing inserts later...

Went for a ride on Sunday - yep - bl**dy brillianty bit of kit. but leads me to a couple of questions if anyone can help....

1) Rear suspension - not good - bounces about like a very bouncy thing on bumpy back roads which limits the fun on a 'spirited' ride... have put more compresson damping on which has settled it down a bit, but still waaayy too soft despite preload being set quite high... will have another fiddle, but reckon either a rebuild or replacement may be on the cards - any comments welcome - is it farked or are 'they all like that sir' ??

2) Diagnostics - have been looking for an answer to this on t'interweb with no luck. Not quite sure which variant of Weber/Marelli ECU is fitted...already have a Tuneboy setup for my Benelli Tornado RS and also have a Ducati/Moto Guzzi interface lead albeit for earlier 15/16M ECU's. Does anyone know if there is a solution to diagnostics for this bike or how to access the built in facility on the LCD speedo screen ???

you mean the pogo stick that passes for a sport shock which is more akin to a touring bike.

good for looking ahead,just wait until it's on the upward stroke, who needs a range rover

Yep, thats the standard :lol: shock

My experience of my rear shock was from about 3000miles , so not gubbed.

Don't get me wrong its not duff but when you've grown up on bikes that have hinges for frames, the rear shock imitates hitting a bump on the road whilst banked over doing 90 and that when riding upright in a straight line.

Totally upsets the balance and poise of the bike which is why it takes a lot of setup on a corner if you want to give it welly. I like my bike firm on the suspension side, i put up with it but if i had the money i'd upgrade.

Just think of it as a citroen on two wheels with a rocket up its arse after a vindallo curry and you can't go wrong.

A thinking mans bike :roll:

Dave;

I had a Corsaro for 3 years and I don't remember my shock being that bad - it did 15,000 miles. Perhaps I just didn't ride it properly? However, it did seem to cope well enough with ridges on the Fosse Way, the bumps around the TT course, and the potholes of pre-winter of 2010... :wink:

I'm no expert - phone NLM (at Leicester, not too far from you) and speak to Stuart. He might try to sell you a new shock, but he'll also put you right... Links are on the Forum.

Good riding,
