ecu and tps

If the ecu is swapped ,does the tps need to be reset each time, or can they be swapped willy nilly 
My understanding (according to Richard of the late tecmoto) is that every time you remove the ecu the TPs needs to be reset, seems crazy to me…………. And the tool to do it is a fortune.
I have a pcIII for my Veloce but have never put it on, the pcIII has the facility to reset the TPS so maybe fitting one would be a cost effective way to enable TPS resetting.
I know there is some downloadable software for the Morini ECU but I am not sure what it allows you to do, maybe you could fire an email to Alex (Maniac Motors) he is extremely knowledgeable with Morini’s and Benelli’s.
