Long distance touring

Post by morini_tom »

Just got back from a fabulous 2000 mile round trip to the factory: the verdict? The morini corsaro makes a superb touring machine. It simply consumes mile after mile of whatever you throw at it. With some cheap Oxford throwovers, a kriega us20 tankbag an a pair of gel seats we had all we needed for suprisingly comfortable 2 up touring. The Swiss mountain passes gave the corsaro a good chance to show it's handling credentials and the motorways showed how willing the bike is to sit at 130kph all day long, with bags of power in reserve for effortless overtaking.

A full writeup will be in the club mag but in summary the corsaro did the job perfectly and neither mine or dads veloce missed a beat the whole time. 37.5mpg Averaged (genuine as mileage from sat nav) I think is pretty good too.

The factory tour was brilliant and we were made very welcome. Saw lots of interesting things and no outward signs of the factory 'liquidation' being any more serious than a blip in cashflow caused by the difficulties faced by the whole automotive industry at the moment. Watch out for morini in 2010, I think they have some blinding cards to play.

Nice one! Alfonso Morini was a fanatical cardplayer, a lot of old types where named after cardgames: Tresette, Settebello, Briscola :)
