the software that came with my blue vag usb cable was infected with a virus so i had to bin it.
I'm wondering if i'm just missing the driver for the blue cable :|
Hi Tom...you need to install the drivers for the cable before connecting it ..try the following link for the drivers

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

Install the driver first

When you plug the cable in it should then set a virtual com port number - look in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Ports (COM & LPT) to see which port you need to set in the Ducatidiag software to enable communication.

Ignition off
Plug VAG cable into computer
Plug diag adapter into bike
Connect +ive terminal (I used the large cable connection on the solenoid just behind the radiator on the LHS of the bike)
Switch on ignition
Launch Ducatidiag

Reverse to disconnect....
downloaded and installed the driver, which then gave me a com 3 port
the ducatidiag software seemed to recognise the port as the connect/disconnect bar changed to green.
no joy :?
no info from the ecu
tried changing the baud rate from 9600 to 38400 and from high and low init but still no handshaking from the ecu
i had two different leads to connect to the morini diagnostic socket so i know its not these cables. The blue vag cable lights up with power (maybe i've got a duff one)

Just checked the vag cable i bought and i notice that it's not compatible with can bus, so i wonder if that's why i can't get the ecu to read via the ducati diag. :!:

give me a hammer

seems if you are running windows vista you need to do the following

got to
computer

program files
locate the ducati diag program
left click on program to open files
right click on ducatidiag21
right click on "properties"
then compatability
tick the box to run in compatability mode
tick the box to run as administrator
click "apply"
then "ok"

hope this helps anyone

still don't know if thats why i can't connect but i'll give it a go.

Just to say that the ducatidiag owner deserves a medal as he is very helpful.

problem was windows vista

Ducatidiag needed to be run in xp compatability mode.

without even registering, what a great little tool, switching fans, injectors, ignition on and off

like a kid with a new toy
this is what i got from the ecu

ECU model number: 23ACMOL49D
Hardware version: IAW5AMHW610
Hardware revision:: 00

what effect does the license have on the software (as i don't have it plugged into the bike at the moment)

Does it just let you reset the tps or are there other functions that become available. I was surprised how easy it was to use once i set windows vista to xp compatability mode.

Also is it possible to use the software with the engine running.

Re: software

I think the software has been derived from a car variant...(the IAW5AM ECU was used in cars before migrating onto bikes...predominantly because of its small size I reckon).....anyway in some car guises there is more functionality contained within the ECU.

JP has re written the software to cater for as many bike ECU variants as possible...some of the functionality will not work on some bikes and will on others...it all depends how the ECU is programmed.

Right to answer your question Tom, the white box does not display anything...as I understand it, its a box in which a value is entered...the green button is then pressed and the ECU the undertakes a relevant test...whether or not these tests will work depends on whether the ECU recognises the command....if you see what I mean. It should cause no harm to the ECU if the command is not recognised....nothing should happen. (own risk etc !! )

Below is a list of commands & numbers (car related)

Coil 2 Control 1
Coil 3 Control 2
4 Control Stepper
5 fuel pump relay control
6 Control tachometer on dashboard
8 injector control gas cylinder 1
9 injector control gas cylinder 2
10 injector control gas cylinder 3
11 injector control gas cylinder 4
12 Control cooling fan relay 1
13 electric fan relay control 2
14 1 O2 Heater Control
15 Control 2 O2 Heater
16 Canister Purge Control Valve
17 Control Warning Lamp
18 H2O temperature control lamp

Hope that helps... :D

sounds right,

i put the value 2 in

jumped out my skin as the coil fired

will a standard ecu tps setting be the same degree angle as a race ecu for open pipes :?: This is all new to me so i'm learning by asking

Yes.....TPS reset basically just tells the ECU when the throttle is fully shut so it knows the throttle position relative to the map cells throughout it's travel.....it's just the maps themselves that will differ :D

Any ideas what "jps dump" is and how do i use it :?
Jps dump is a non invasive program the author (Jean Paul) has written to extract the maps from the ECU...I have already asked him to send me a copy of the program but he has not replied....

Once extracted the maps can be analysed ...I think they are compatible with TUNE ECU software

If you contact him and get a copy, can you let me know.... :D

Re: software

does any one have problems with the ducatidiag software.

I'm finding it totally unreliable, off the bike it works fine.

Tps and service reset buttons are ok and it works as if it has a license.

Connect to the bike and it constantly asks to be registered and the tps and service rest buttons dissapear.

I've done a new installation after uninstalling using windows vista and then relaoding the program and copying the "clic" license file to the program.

:? :? :?

with the amount of hassle with the program i'm beginning to wonder whether i can trust it with my ecu in case it ****S IT UP

FIXED

THANKS TO JPS :P AT DUCATIDIAG.

P.S VERSION 22 IS OUT with dump tool and other features
