downloaded and installed the driver, which then gave me a com 3 portDaveH wrote:Hi Tom...you need to install the drivers for the cable before connecting it ..try the following link for the driverstwisty wrote:DaveH wrote:do i need to load any software apart from ducatidiag
the software that came with my blue vag usb cable was infected with a virus so i had to bin it.
I'm wondering if i'm just missing the driver for the blue cable

Install the driver first
When you plug the cable in it should then set a virtual com port number - look in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Ports (COM & LPT) to see which port you need to set in the Ducatidiag software to enable communication.
Ignition off
Plug VAG cable into computer
Plug diag adapter into bike
Connect +ive terminal (I used the large cable connection on the solenoid just behind the radiator on the LHS of the bike)
Switch on ignition
Launch Ducatidiag
Reverse to disconnect....
the ducatidiag software seemed to recognise the port as the connect/disconnect bar changed to green.
no joy

no info from the ecu

tried changing the baud rate from 9600 to 38400 and from high and low init but still no handshaking from the ecu
i had two different leads to connect to the morini diagnostic socket so i know its not these cables. The blue vag cable lights up with power (maybe i've got a duff one)
Just checked the vag cable i bought and i notice that it's not compatible with can bus, so i wonder if that's why i can't get the ecu to read via the ducati diag.

give me a hammer
