Frustration

Post by Henrik »

I just felt the need to post something due to the frustration I am feeling at the moment. I really love my Corsaro, and each time I ride it I am reminded of just why and how much. When everything is right, it is probably the best bike I have ever ridden.

The problem is that this year I have just not been able to ride it very much. First off, and as I have mentioned in another thread on here already, in one of my first rides of the year I crashed it while slipping on gravel. This came after last year's issue of having the bike knocked over by a car while parked, and the trouble of getting everything fixed. So, as the riding season started, my bike was stuck in the garage waiting for parts to get it repaired.

By May it was finally almost all done, even though I am still waiting for some parts which I know think I will never get. So, I managed to get a few small rides in, until the license plate support broke. Getting this fixed took way too long, and in the end I had my father-in-law make a special piece for me.

So, I finally had the bike back in shape, cleaned it all perfectly, and yesterday I took the bike to work planning on leaving early to take a long ride home through the Alps. The weather forecast was beautiful, yet as I started riding the rain stared pouring. So, I got to work soaked. Still, it looked like things were improving as the sun came out in the afternoon. So, at 5 I took of from work for my ride. Just when i finally got out of the city congestion, and I was able to open her up, the engine started to stutter strangely. I pulled in the clutch to downshift, and the engine died.

As I pulled over, the orange light indicating a major engine failure came on. So, I called my garage and was told I needed to bring it in. I called the tow truck company, and they finally showed up at 7:30. We arrived at the garage at around 8, and the bike is now there. I don't know how long it will take this time to get it fixed...

It is all just so frustrating. I want and need a bike I can ride whenever I want to. Yet I love the Corsaro. The biggest problem is that given what has happened to the factory, I doubt any garage will take it as a trade inn for another bike.

I just hope that the troubles I have had this year are enough for a few years to come, and that I will be able to have some great times on it in the future...

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one here who shares and understands your frustration Henrik, I bought my Morini at a time of record motorcycle sales in my country (2008), I had no idea of the looming global economic downturn or the effect it would have on my choice of motorcycle.
I've been luckier than you in some ways, as my Corsaro has given me no significant mechanical problems to deal with, although that's probably just as well, because the national distributors went down the tube about three months after my purchase and the shop I bought my bike from is 3000km. south of where I live!

My immediate problem is that I'm 300 kays short of my 10,000km service, the Ducati workshop that I have been dealing with for the last 20yrs. has said that they will service my Morini but only on the condition that I provide them with a workshop manual, I don't have one and the shop I bought my bike from say they can't supply me with one.
What do I do now? :?:

Is it that easy Twisty?
My wife said to me when I was last sending an e-mail to the factory that "You should just ask Twisty, I bet he could help".
Thanks mate, I'll PM you right now.
