parts availability

Post by twisty »

Been waiting nearly two months for replacement coils under warranty,if it was the summer i'd be climbing the wall. Don't mind waiting but i seem to be left in the dark with no update as to what's happening
Is the parts situation normally that slow :?:

Parts -Just in time or not in time?

Post by Emmohaswheelsagain »

Hi Twisty,

Not sure if this is general but in the current climate this may become a feature with all parts. I will need a Pirelli Phantom next month and at the moment Pirelli havn't one in the Uk. Stuart at NLM is no doubt trying his best but I might have to go for a none standard tyre if Pirelli fail to produce the goods. At least Morini had the sense to base several models around one engine, pity the owners of other marques whose models/engine configurations change every year.
I hope you get the bike put right soon.

its normally quite quick..... I had an engine replaced, from it needing a new lump to it being back in my garage was a period of about 5 weeks...

thanks for the replies. Like i said earlier,if you're kept informed you don't mind waiting, but then i start wondering at what point does your patience run out?

Twisty,
Morini's are not cheap bikes and as a daily viewer of this forum: I am a little surprised at the number of 'niggly' faults that are still being reported.

Sure theses things are under warranty and often replaced at no cost -
But anything that keeps a modern bike off the road is a pain in the butt.

A company shouldn't rely on a passionate owner profile to buy endless goodwill and so far MM have proven worthy in resolving defects and honouring warranty issues.

Franky's engine is a good example!

Let's hope MM's sub-contractors and suppliers aren't hit too hard by the recession.

Only you can decide when things have gone too far.

All the best.

Twisty; the Morini factory have a "parts bin" of all the bits and pieces for engines and frames etc. I don't have any answers, just being an "enthusiastic rider" but...

Importers are, I guess, in a different position and certainly will not have a few of everything in on a "just in case" basis - certainly not in this economic situation.

Electrics might be even worse as these are probably brought in to the factory on a per unit constructed basis - so these will be an additional purchase by Morini for warranty purposes  I guess that you need to keep the pressure on the dealer / importer and make sure that they don't forget the parts needed - Spring is just around the corner!

Good luck,

thanks to pete at 3x

Post by twisty »

Many thanks to pete and the parts department at 3x for getting my coils replaced.
The original dealer "lost" the original parts, didn't reply to most of my emails and basicallly left me in the dark for 3 months.
Contacted 3x direct and problem solved.

Highly recommended :D
